UNSDG18-F: Launch of the UN Women campaign 2020: #IMEDDorangestheworldingreen

Make Women Visible!

With the UNSDG18-F launched in 2019 during COP25 in Madrid, the IMEDD is part of the UN Women campaign: Orange the World, whose goal is to raise the awareness on women’s rights for an equal future and fight against violence done on women in all its forms.

The UNSDG18-F focuses on women‘s entrepreneurship which is the founding basis for equality and a tool to eradicate violence.

Indeed, once a woman becomes independent thanks to entrepreneurship and work, she holds in her hands her own future, equality and safety. In this sense, the biggest initiative which can be undertaken by the countries to fight against violence is helping the women realize their dreams with their work and making them become visible at international.

With women, thanks to education and entrepreneurship, in one generation, it becomes possible to make this world a better place for the future generations. Once all the countries will understand these leverages, the world will be safer and more responsible.

During these yearly 16 days of activism, starting onNovember 25, the IMEDD inspires the women so they can bring force, using their power of love, to help a better environmental preservation and fight against climate change.

This awareness campaign is led in the framework of the United Nations, the UN Women, the UN Environmental Programme, the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Inspiring awareness campaign 2020: Orange the World

Equality, sisterhood, freedom, three values for the women to build a better world for themselves and the future generation.

For this 2020 world campaign, the IMEDD will focus on women’s entrepreneurship which is the founding basis for equality and a tool to eradicate violence. Indeed, once a woman becomes independent thanks to entrepreneurship, she holds in her hands her own future, equality and safety. In this sense, the biggest initiative which can be undertaken by the countries to fight against violence is helping the women realize their dreams with their work and making them become visible. Each woman is a Queen of Heart.

For this second day of the world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women: “Each woman is a Queen of Heart and holds her own destiny in her hands”.

#DAY3 to orange the world in green
Women’s seeds… one trillion trees.
For this third day of the world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women. The biggest challenge we face for our future is preserving the environment, which will lead to a better quality of life, also a stronger and fair economy. A tool to succeed in decreasing the world CO2 emissions is to support the plantation of trees. The target is huge, one trillion trees, this is why we call it a world challenge, knowing that many women and their families on the entire earth depend on the forests for their living.

Be smart, make a step
For this fourth day of this world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD  shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women. The best way in life to succeed is to be smart, and it often starts by making the first step. Once this first step is made, it’s just a question of walking, one step after another while recalling that “tomorrow will always be another day” with new possibilities to achieve. No condition is ever permanent, nothing lasts and the best way to move towards a goal is always making a new step, each day.

#DAY5 to orange the world in green
Shine your light for the earth
For gender equality as well as for the elimination of violence, the women need to walk on the path of light, which means a better understanding, using their own sense of intuition, believing in themselves, evidencing and accepting the truth, even though these actions can sometimes be hard to do in certain situations. Though, shining our inner light helps making a better world. When we want things to change, we need to make it happen, starting by ourselves, then empowering the others to finally spread the word. Shine your light for the earth!

#DAY6 to orange the world in green
Do it yourself. Yes, you can.
For this 6th day of this world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women. Indeed, for years, the world has been facing the issue of CO2 emissions and the damaging impacts of human activities on the environment. The women can have a role to help this issue adapting their ways of lives, mostly by consuming local, developing their potential through online green entrepreneurship and jobs while reducing their transports and usingsustainable means of transports, what we call soft mobility. They also have a key role to play in their children’s lives and education, also empowering them to develop their skills online, show them how to have a healthy life, teaching them that most of the everyday transports can be done with a bike or even walking (especially in the early age). Considering that around the half of the world citizens are women, often in charge of the education, the global potential to reduce the CO2 emissions, adapting new behaviors for future is a huge opportunity.

#DAY7 to orange the world in green
All work must be recognized and paid at its own value.
For this 7th day of this world awareness campaign led by the UNWomen, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women. Indeed, the campaign “Orange the World” is based on genderequality, one of the points of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Applied to work and jobs, everywhere around the world, there is a real lack of gender equality and sometimes even worse, the women work but are not even paid for their work, which is totally insane as we are in the year 2020, in which the bosses should be aware that for each work, a wage is deserved. We often think that those situations happen in non-developed countries but it also happens in very developed countries, and it’s a true social injustice, out of law and a true tool to avoid the women to get their own independence. When we consider the leading positions in the public and private sectors, very few women are part of the boards, and if they are, they are paid less than the men, just because they are women, which is totally unfair. In some other cases, the women are not paid at a decent wage for their work, they are voluntarily left in a low position, to make sure they don’t develop, or in the worst case scenarios, we count on the women’s sense of duty to provide free-work (which is even worse). All this happens very frequently, just next door. It is a true social injustice, a true non-recognition of the women’s abilities, and it can even be considered in certain situations as an act of modern slavery. Because, considering people as slaves is not only putting chains around their feet, it is also about not giving them the opportunity to have access to a decent wage for the work they accomplish. It is very important that the employers reflect on this issue of sometimes treating the women as modern slaves, which is a true and severe act of violence against the women. Once again, it does not only happen in non-developed countries, also in developed countries! Think people and do what is fair!

#DAY8 to orange the world in green
Dream big, dance green!

For this 8th day of this world awareness campaign led by the
#UNWomen, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women. Indeed, in order to help the women live their future, it is important to listen to their big dreams, which is at the base of their motivations to drive change.

#DAY9 to orange the world in green
Say thanks to the women

For this 9th day of this world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women and the World Society. Indeed, the women are often very gifted and talented in many fields of actions. The most known is being mother, a responsibility and duty which bear to each woman since the very first day of the birth of her first child.
The women are also very often standing beside the men who succeed in life, bringing them their own talents and image, being their personal advisers, helping them to create a bigger proximity with the people their men deal with.
The women are not only mothers or wives, not at all.
First of all, they are women, with dreams to accomplish, professional goals to achieve and different perceptions built on the idea of a better future. They carry big projects at the highest levels for the well-being of the society or they lead empowering initiatives at the level of their own communities.
The women are all in one: they are able to act global or local, using their skills, their talents, their sensibility, their love and hopes for future. In other words, the women naturally carry success whenever they express themselves.
For all these reasons, the women should be thanked for what they do, understood and much more supported by the world community. The women never act for their own self-interests, always for the well-being of the others and future.
This is why the women are the queens of heart and why the society should be much more thankful for what they bring on this earth.
A “thank you” is nothing to say, it’s the base of a good education.
It is also a recognition of the commitments.
A “thank you” is always a powerful word on which the women will take force to go on.
As we celebrate the women, as we support gender equality and fight against the elimination of violence, the best way to start for all of us, is to thank the women for who they are and for what they do, because after all, each one of us on this earth wouldn’t be here if a woman had not decided to dedicate her own life with passion to the others. It’s a very deep issue on which the world society should reflect: being thankful… always…

Harassment is a felony punished by law

For this 10th day of this world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women and the World Society. Indeed, many women (and even some men) are victims of situations of harassment, once or several times in their personal lives or even at work (more and more often). Harassment a is very vicious manner to belittle the others, censure them, make them pass like fools, attack people’s pride, integrity and well-being with the goal of taking the power on the others. Harassment is driven by jealousy and possession. It is not only a moral affair, it can sometimes even become a cruel act of physical violence, in which the harasser takes a total control on the victim. Harassment is a pure violation of people’s moral and physical integrity. It leaves immense scars to the victims which can last for a very long period of time.
What can we do to combat harassment?
The first is to keep loving ourselves and put full priority on our own persons, so the impacts of the vicious words or physical acts are reduced. Second, it’s important to share with the surroundings what is happening. Liberating the speech is a tool to not let the harasser reach the dark goal. Third, in certain situations, it is crucial to have a medical assistance and ask for help. The healthcare system is often the first to be concerned by this terrible issue as they listen to the people who suffer from situations of harassment. The medical system is also the one who can advise what to do. They can encourage the victims to talk to the law enforcement. The police is now well trained to these questions of harassment, they help the victims to mentally protect themselves, they can organize some kinds of situations on which they catch the harassers in flagrancy and they can also intervene in case of physical harassment. Proving harassment is also very important, because as it is vicious, the harassers like to practice their terrible scheme in the dark, which means out of the eyes of everyone, so they make sure the victims are considered as people who exagerate or recognized as fools. One tool to catch a harasser who commits an act of harassment is acting in the back, because some evidence are needed to make a harasser stop and make him enter the process of law. Today, with our smartphone, we can record audio conversations or even videos of the situations of harassment unknowingly. This method is very useful, because most of the time, when a harasser discovers that he has been caught on audio recording or in video, he becomes very scared and his small domination falls apart, as he realizes the consequences he could face with the law. With the recalcitrant harassers, it’s always essential to overturn the situation of harassment, showing them the determination of acting against them in the framework of the law. Most of the time, one day, the harasser will stop by himself, because he will understand that if he goes further, he will break his own life. If he doesn’t stop, the affair needs to be brought to the police.
Who is the harasser?
He is nothing more than a person who has mental health problems, who suffers from huge damage in his own mind’s construction (probably because himself has one day been a victim of harassment, maybe even in his own family), who hasn’t grown in his mind, who hasn’t put in question his way of having been educated, who duplicates a terrible family scheme he was taught in the early age, who doesn’t know how to distinguish what is good and what is bad and who doesn’t respect anyone. A harasser is very often somebody who has not succeeded himself in life. He is so jealous and frustrated of not being what he idealizes to be, that he feeds himself of harassment by taking power on the others. When he pratices moral or physical violence, his brain is driven by a feeling of domination, of power on the others, which wrongly makes him think he is so powerful. The goal of a harasser is to make his victim think that she is less than nothing. When he creates the situation of harassment, it helps him, for a moment, quit his state of very deep and strong frustration, but indeed, he only reinforces his mental health problems.
The harassers have very huge problems of mental health. They need to be denounced, they need to be cured and arrested, because they represent a danger, especially for the vulnerable people, but also for the surroundings of the victims.
Finally, it’s important for the victims to understand that the more they let a situation of harassment last in time, the more it will become difficult for them to get out of the problem. It means that the sooner a harasser is denounced, the faster the victims can recover. Indeed, harassment is a true offence made against a person, who often needs a long time for the recovery, mentally and physically speaking, sometimes it even takes several years.
We all have around us some examples of people who have been harassed (because not only some men harass women. Some women can also be terrible harassers). Whenever we face these horrible situations, it’s always very important to provide the victims (our friends and family) with a very strong and caring human support, because indeed, a harasser is nothing more than somebody who brainwashes the mind of his/her victim until leaving terrible and unforgettable scars. For the surroundings, providing full support, recognition of the facts and consideration to the victims is the only way to help them resist, make them break the situation of harassment and slowly recover. This is why, in these situations of harassment, love is always the strongest weapon of protection.

Love, dream, empower
For this 11th day of this world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women and the World Society. Indeed, “love, dream and empower” are three very strong words which can lead to amazing achievements. It is about having a positive energy, a vision for future, a will of accomplishment and a capacity of focus and transformation. When we deeply think about the true meaning of these three words and what they imply behind, they are key factors that bring to the path of freedom, which is one of the most powerful tool for women’s entrepreneurship. Indeed, the more the minds are liberated, the more they are innovative and free to act. It’s only in these states of love, dream and empowerment that great things can be achieved as we get out of the confort zone, to meet the unknown. This is why Paul Eluard once wrote: “we were born to meet and name freedom”.

#DAY12 to orange the world in green
You grow lucky woman
For this 12th day of this world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women and the World Society. Indeed, it’s very important for each woman to believe that she grows lucky and thankful. It helps keep the faith, believe that tomorrow is always another day and recognize when luck knocks at the door. Luck is powerful feeling to bring inner peace, and it also drives a positive path of life. It helps design and achieve our dreams. Green entrepreneurship is fulfilled by luck and love. It’s like a little seed of shamrock which grows in us and one day blooms for the earth. Now, everybody knows the secret for our planet, we just need to plan a seed of shamrock in our hearts and let it grow for a better future.

#DAY14 to orange the world in green
All in this together
For this 13th day of this world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women and the World Society. “All in this together”… By “this”, it is obviously the planet and the issues that all the countries of the world are facing regarding the environment, the impact of pollutions on health and the fight on climate change among many other important issues. Because, if we have borders for territories that define nations, there is no border for the environment and health. As an example, a volcano which has an explosive eruption in one part of the world, can spread its ash all around the planet, until causing a stop for the air transport (we saw it already with the Iceland Volcano a couple of years ago), or even worse, a massive volcanic explosive eruption (like YellowStone, even Krakatoa or the Vesuvius) could contaminate all water, food, biodiversity and wipe out of the map a certain number of countries, or at least several regions, also causing global impacts (economic, social, environmental, security…). We also know from scientific reports published by the IPCC, International Panel on Climate Change, that due to the melting of the permafrost, some deadly virus which have been captured in the ice during millions of years could be released and contaminate the entire planet, due to our way of life and transport. This year 2020, with covid19, showed the entire world, the effect of a global virus which caused this pandemic, lockdowns, social impacts, a slow-down of the world economy and big security issues. All people on earth are now aware and they must be thankful in a certain way, because this virus was not a “super killer” compared to other virus. Thanks to a certain number of countries, a vaccine is now on its way to be distributed to the people who needs it (the most vulnerable). But what if covid19 had been a worse dangerous virus than it is. We saw that the nations had very big difficulties to bring a response to the issue, with the perimeter of covid19. How would have it been, if covid19 had been a worse massive killer like the Spanish Flu? That’s what “all in this together” means. The nations must join together and bring a global response to many issues which threaten our future together and each country and people has its part to play : – on the environmental preservation – on the health issues – on the fight against climate change – on fighting against starvation and poverty – on the elimination of violence caused on women and children – on respecting the rights and freedoms of the people – on keeping the prohibition of use of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons – on fighting and eradicating any kinds of drugs and human trafficking – etc… Once again, the environmental fight has no borders, nor the world’s population’s health, nor violence, nor the rights and freedoms, nor the use of nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, nor on the combat against drugs and human trafficking. If everyvody opened his/her eyes for a second, all these fights happen everywhere around us, and it’s only if we decide to be “all in this together”, that maybe, one day, a post like this one won’t need to be written.
🍀 May it happen someday. May we keep the faith in a better future 🍀

All women have their own impact
For this 14th day of this world awareness campaign led by the UN Women, the IMEDD shares a new poster to inspire and empower the women and the World Society. At the end of November 2020, Europe celebrated the European Week for Waste Reduction, this federative event which goal is to empower people all over Europe to the issue of waste management with the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. During this global event, we saw that the women committed a lot through many different projects: creating tutorials, doing digital communication and media, beach cleaning events, education projects with children, sharing tips and empowering the entire world. With more than 10 000 initiatives undertaken in Europe, this event was a very great success which showed how the community commits for a cleaner Europe. Beside all these women, many men committed too, explaining the process of waste management, planning and organizing some cleanings at big scale, organizing workshops for businesses and public organizations, facilitating the knowledge about the waste sector, etc… In other words, the European Week for Waste Reduction is an initiative of global entrepreneurship for the waste with a big impact. This commitment of the women is important for this issue as they are the ones at the origin of the future generation’s education which is a key point for a cleaner Europe. Indeed, when the children are taught from the early age that a waste needs to go in a bin, when they learn that they can resuse or recycle, they are educated to a responsible behavior that they will keep for the rest of their lives. Education is the most important tool to make Europe and the World cleaner, and in this field, the women have their own impact.
